Our Dental Team
Dr. James Gaff has the gift of working with his hands and likes to help others, so dentistry was a natural career choice for him. After earning his D.D.S. degree from Emory University and serving two years in the U.S. Army, he opened his practice in Jacksonville in 1974.
“Dr.Gaff has incredibly good hands, and is very focused and on task,” says one longtime staff member.
Because he thinks it serves his patients well, Dr. Gaff attends continuing education classes, where his hands-on work is always recognized. He is a member of the Northeast Florida Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. Like many Floridians, he’s a huge Florida Gators fan.
Fifteen years ago, he founded a dental mission to Jamaica. Along with other dentists and physicians, he travels to Jamaica twice a year and provides dental services to people who may have never seen a dentist. During this semi-annual mission, he often provides people who have no teeth with their first set of dentures. He has been married since 1968 and has two grown children.
In addition to Dr. Gaff, the staff includes a dental hygienist, two assistants, and patient and insurance coordinators. All of them are long-term staff members, and some have worked with Dr. Gaff as long as 20 years. That means they have the knowledge and experience to answer just about any question, and the knack of making patients feel at home.
“We do our best to make our patients comfortable,” says one staff member. “It may sound corny, but we love our patients.”
